Romotive builds smartphone robots that can be controlled from any smart device anywhere in the world. Because software for the robots is distributed through the app store, users can download new behaviors and personalities for their robots at the click of a button. And, developers can use Romotive’s SDK to build out new apps for their robots and then sell them on the app store.

The ultimate goal is to build robots that are intuitive enough for normal people to use and cheap enough for normal people to afford. By creating a simple robotic platform that does a few things well, we can spark a personal robotics revolution.

In October 2012 Romotive announced its next round of funding totaling $5 million from Sequoia Capital, Crunchfund, Ron Conway’s SV Angel and others.
